The Makers are a visionary rock band with a backbone of blues and nasty funk. The trio of Shamus Flaherty on guitars and vocals, Jay Metz on bass, and Joe Raffone on Drums pumps out a truly original sound with overtones of familiarity from decades past.
From its humble, inconspicuous beginnings, the band's journey has been one of hard work, perseverance, and dedication. Their music is clever, melodic, raw; their performances are entertaining and inventive. With an arsenal of over thirty originals and some choice covers, The Makers can play a tight 90-minute set or two full sets with a few improv jams thrown in. Playing the East Coast from Brooklyn to Bar Harbor, the bands growing fan base show up in numbers.
The Band's influences are all over the map: Herbie Hancock, The Black Keys, Led Zeppelin, The Funky Meters, Muddy Waters, The White Stripes, Curtis Mayfield, David Bowie, Sublime, Jimi Hendrix, Sly & The Family Stone, CCR and lots of old 70's soul.
